Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral
Searching for William Burges
Searching for William Burges
St Fin Barre's Cathedral, seen here through
a Glucksman window on a rainy January day, is the subject of a current exhibition
(until March 24th) at the gallery. The exhibition, curated by Richard Wood, is
titled Searching for a New Jerusalem and presents the original preparatory
drawings (cartoons) and stained glass of Victorian artist and architect William
Burges.
It reveals a "unique artistic and
architectural vision" and the experience of viewing the drawings can only
be enhanced by a visit to the nearby cathedral to see the real thing.
It may well be the damp dead of winter but
the Glucksman is alive and very well and this is not its only show at the moment.
Architecture is also the theme for Folly, an exhibition that includes work by
Jeff Carter, Blaise Drummond, Laura Gannon, Pierre Huyghe, Chris Mottalini,
Eamon O'Kane, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Jane and Louise Wilson.
Here too you will find music, family
Sundays, Workshops, Art Clubs (for juniors and seniors) and much more. Check it
