PASSAGE WEST and MONKSTOWN RAILWAY TRAIL

PASSAGE WEST & MONKSTOWN RAILWAY TRAIL
Enjoyed a nice walk along part of the Passage West and Monkstown Railway Trail this fine morning. It is a long straight walk on a tarmac path with some information points along the way, particularly as you get nearer to Passage, coming from the Rochestown side. I joined in the car park close to the Rochestown Inn.

It is suitable for walkers, joggers and cyclists. If you have a dog, you’d better keep him on the lead as it is quite a busy walk, even on a mid-week morning. While it is not the most scenic of paths – you do have the industrial buildings scattered on the further side of the harbour – it is a very pleasant one.

The tide was coming in this morning and the waders were out in force, getting as much food in as possible before the water covered the muddy areas nearer the bank.
